Frequently Asked Questions
Common Questions
Kempner Monuments has been providing excellent service since 2011. Throughout the years we have learned there are often some common questions. For your convenience we have listed several questions and answers — although if you have a particular question, please don’t hesitate to ask us.
- Yes, we will not start the manufacturing process until you have approved the final design.
- Possibly. If the manufacturing process has not started, or it isn’t so far along that your changes are possible, then yes — we will incorporate the requested change(s). However, if the manufacturing process has started and is so far along that the changes you want are impossible, the order cannot be changed.
- We, as do most monument companies, use dye, which is far superior to paint. All grey markers will have black letters and all black markers will have light gray or white letters.
- Within the geographic area of Central Texas we will set your monument in the cemetery, which is included in the overall cost. Should the monument later need attention due to ground shift (tilting), we will re-set the marker at no additional cost.
- This includes the stone itself, all designs and lettering as shown in the final sketch you approve. This also includes setting the stone in the cemetery within the Central Texas area. There is no per-letter charge or per-design charge.
- Granite colors vary, even from the same quarry, but we can find granite that will coexist pleasantly with your monument.
- Yes, Kempner Monuments will contact the cemetery and make sure the monument you have chosen will comply with all their restrictions. This also includes restrictions relating to setting the monument. The manufacturing process does not start until this information is confirmed.
- No. As long as the headstone meets their requirements, they are legally bound to accept the headstone.
- Yes; however, we will need to be notified as soon as possible so we can determine if your timelines are possible. Rush charges could apply.
- We deliver monuments throughout the Continental United States, but we do not set monuments in the cemeteries outside the Central Texas area. However, we will assist you in locating a professional in the cemetery of your choice who will set the monument. This will incur additional charges from the company who sets the monument.
- Yes, custom colors and sizes are available. Please call for more details. The custom size and color must comply with the cemetery restrictions.
- No; however, possible cemetery restrictions must be considered.
- Yes, we have several mounting choices you may pick from.
- Yes, they need a base, usually granite. Of course, cemetery restrictions may also apply.
- Probably the most famous epitaph is the simple “Rest in peace.” An epitaph is a short phrase or poem usually inspired by the decedent’s accomplishments and life. An epitaph can be included on many monument designs.
- You select the artwork and text that will be applied to your monument. Your artwork and text is then deeply sandblasted into the granite. Dye (which is much better than paint) is applied to the sandblasted area on the marker. All grey markers will be stained black and all black markers will be stained light gray or white. All of this is done with your previous approval.
- Absolutely! The same process is used for pet memorials that is used for all other monument manufacturing.
